Our 10 month old kitten Dave, aka Baby David, was run over by a car a few days ago, but managed to pull himself home barely alive to our front doorstep despite receiving critical damage to his legs, pelvis and spine. The emergency vet told us the best thing for him was euthanasia, but after we asked them to perform x-rays, they agreed that he could be saved by the specialist Feline Clinic at Langford Veterinary Services in Somerset (home of University of Bristol Veterinary Sciences). Unfortunately, his life-threatening injuries require very delicate and costly surgery to repair multiple fractures with pins, screws & plates but the prognosis is that after surgery and many months recovery, our little guy should be (hopefully) fully recovered. Dave had his surgery Monday morning. He has had a titanium 'clamp' through each side of his pelvis and through his spine to restructure his back end. He's also had two titanium pins in his right wrist, with an artificial nylon 'ligament' between them to hopefully maintain flexibility to his broken wrist on recovery. He'll be in the plaster cast for 6 weeks now..

Update: Dave has spent 6 weeks in the crate, and has had his cast removed (well, he escaped from it..). He will be going to Langford shortly for final x-rays before they agree he can escape the crate and be on 'room rest' for a further 6 weeks (maybe longer, as he needs to build up muscle strength again).

A big THANK YOU to all who supported Dave through this rough time! I will try to move the camera so that you can still watch him get better..
