Heinfels Castle, located in Austria, was originally built in the 13th century by the House of Welsperg and later transferred to the House of Görz. It was fortified at the end of the 15th century and later owned by Emperor Maximilian I. The castle slowly started falling into disrepair in the 18th century, and restoration work has been carried out since the 1990s. In 2007, the Loacker company acquired Heinfels Castle with the intention of revitalising the site and making it accessible to the public. From 2016 to 2020, extensive restoration work took place, and Heinfels Castle was opened to the public as a museum.
